Sole traders and partnerships:

Broadly speaking, for sole traders and partnerships the purpose of preparing financial accounts each year is for inclusion on your Self Assessment Tax Return (link here to tax consultancy page). 

Companies:

For limited companies, accounts must be prepared in accordance with the requirements of company law.

Full annual accounts will be prepared for inclusion on your Corporation Tax Return, or CT600 (link to tax consultancy page) and submission to HM Revenue and Customs.

As a limited company, you are also required by law to file your accounts with Companies House. We will file abbreviated accounts on your behalf, which contain the minimum amount of information for disclosing on the public register.

In the last few years, we have moved towards an online-based approach for filing company accounts in accordance with Companies House recommendations.
